With over a decade of experience in Bollywood and Bharatnatyam dance, Jaya Karan is Managing Director, Co-founder, choreographer and a creative force behind the group’s success.
Experienced in numerous dance styles and trained in Bharatnatyam, co-founder Piyali Somaia effortlessly blends modern and classical Indian dance styles in both her choreography and performance.
Gerard is Artistic Director for Sapphire Dance. A gifted dancer and choreographer, he wins new fans wherever he performs. He is also Creative Director and founder of PROVOKATIV Dance Company.
Elise May Watson Lord
Elise performs in a wide range of genres including ballet, contemporary, jazz, commercial, and burlesque. Elise has graced stages worldwide, from Germany and Italy to Malaysia and Hong Kong.
Kanika Gupta Sikand
Kanika has been training in Bharatnatyam classical dance since the age of five and has performed in numerous productions in Melbourne and overseas.
Erica has trained extensively in dance in many genres and has performed in Bollywood stage shows, film clips and movies in Mumbai, Delhi and Goa.
Hana started dancing when she was just four years old. She has performed professionally in ballet, jazz, contemporary, samba and latin dance. Hana was also a competitive gymnast for 8 years, and she loves thrilling the audience with her acrobatics.
Nicole has extensive experience in numerous genres including ballet, tap, jazz and salsa. She has worked as a dancer in India, performing for several Bollywood movies, music videos and commercials.
Maansi Gupta Khotkar
Maansi is a passionate dancer and has been performing since she was seven years old. She is a trained classical Bharatanatayam dancer, as well as director of our bridal dance services.
Zoe has been devoted to dance from a very young age. She has danced, choreographed and taught in numerous professional settings. She is currently training with some of Australia’s top urban dance crews, whilst also completing a Bachelor of Education.
Sham is a multi-talented performer and has been involved in numerous acting, music and dance projects. From an early age, Sham started ballet, followed by jazz, tap, hip hop and contemporary dance training. She has performed locally and in South East Asia. Sham recently completed her Bachelor of Performing Arts at Monash University.
Ida is a trained Kathak dancer of the Jaipur gharana. She also has over 15 years experience in multiple dance forms including Bollywood, contemporary and Indian folk.
We have been featured in a mini documentary series as shown on the big screen at Lido Cinemas (Hawthorn). Directed by award winning Australian film director, Clayton Jacobson (known for his debut feature film, Kenny), the documentary shares our story and vision, as narrated by Sapphire Dance co-founder and Director, Jaya Karan.
