One of the benefits of working with the Sapphire Dancers is that I’m constantly inspired by them. They are positive, resilient, hard-working, elite athletes, passionate and most importantly, kind and generous people. They teach me new creative ways to dance, new perspectives and unique ways to approach things. Dancing to us all is more than just movement and creation – it is a way of life.
So to start the weekend on a positive note, here are five quotes by famous artists, philosophers and scientists related to dancing (and life) which I love and I hope you find inspiring too:

Mikhail Baryshnikov is a Soviet-born American ballet dancer (born in 1948) who is famous for being one of the greatest male classical dancers of the 1970’s and 1980’s. He subsequently became a noted dance director and promotes modern dance to this day.

Known to all, Albert Einstein was German-born physicist who developed the special and general theories of relativity and won the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1921 for his explanation of the photoelectric effect. Einstein is generally considered the most influential physicist of the 20th century.

Agnes George de Mille (born in 1905 in New York) was an American dancer and choreographer. She toured the United States and Europe, with her own creations. She was the recipient of many awards and choreographed many ballets for the American Ballet Theatre. She was also a huge advocate for the Arts in the United States.

Martha Graham (born in 1894) was an influential American dancer, teacher, and choreographer of modern dance, and the first dancer to perform at the White House. Over more than 50 years she created more than 180 works, from solos to large-scale works and changed the face of modern dance.

Rabindranath Tagore was a renowned Bengali poet, author, song composer, playwright, essayist, and painter who was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1913. Among his many talents, his wide spread influence included introducing Indian culture to the West and Western culture to India. To this day he is a national pride for all Indians, especially Bengalis.
No matter what your passion in life I hope these thoughts add some positivity to your week ahead!
