8 ways to add more Bollywood drama into your life

Bollywood movies are so unique and lovable because they entertain on every level. Majestic sets, catchy music, energetic dances and storylines that are elaborate and highly dramatic – it’s an escape from everyday life. Growing up to these movies in the 80’s and 90’s I remember the over the top storylines. But why wait to watch a Bollywood movie – instead, here are some tips on how to add some Bollywood drama into your lives:
1. Weddings
When your best friend marries someone, make sure you are the centre of attention. Sing and dance at their wedding with a totally “spontaneous” choreographed duet with the groom’s brother. Forget the bride and groom, it’s all about YOU! (Movie: Hum Aapke Hain Koun)

2. Parenting
When your child sings at a school concert, don’t just watch like a proud parent. Instead, in a highly dramatic fashion, interrupt the whole concert for your own emotional reasons, run up to the stage and embrace your child and sing with them ( Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham).

3. Friendship
If you are in love with your best friend, don’t tell them straight away. Spend lots of time with them, fall desperately in love, wait for them to get engaged to someone else and then decide to tell them ONLY on their wedding day (Dil Chahta Hai).

4. Love
Fall in love to the extreme. Don’t just love someone and ask them to marry you. Instead, love someone who is definitely out of bounds (e.g. someone else’s husband) and then make sure he dies out of his love for you (Devdas, Bajrao Mastani).

5. Fashion
When you’re at home just chilling, don’t wear anything comfortable. Instead wear your most bling sari with matching jewellery and make up. Change your outfits on average 5-6 times a day, just for fun. Make sure you also live in the biggest mansion in the country and drive a Lamborghini. It doesn’t matter what you do for a living. These things just fall into your lap because you own some sort of “business”. For extra effect, pump up your muscles when driving your luxury car (Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham).

6. Dance
When it’s raining outside – quickly change into a white sari, rush outside and dance and sing about love and all things nice in the rain (Dil Ka Rishta).

7. Family Feud
When you have a tiff with a family member, don’t forgive them soon. Instead, only speak to them after they have had children, moved to another city and decades have passed (Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham).

8. Self-Defence
When 20 guys attack you at once, you’ll be fine to fight them off by yourself. Even when you’re holding your child, and one of your arms gets injured and you’re covered in blood, you’ll be fine because after all you are very talented– you got this! (Bajirao Mastani)

Follow the above tips and soon you’ll be living in your own Bollywood world where anything’s possible. Good luck!
